Old Testament – inter-faith marriages were prohibited throughout the O.T. This was not based on race, but strictly different faiths. With that law came the rational that “they” would draw the Hebrews away from their faith. This would naturally include those who had no faith, but in those days, people groups who did not look to some higher power were few and far between. The Greeks had yet to enlighten the world. One of many examples of this law can be found in Deut. 7:3-4. There were a few exceptions to the rule, such as with the prophet Hosea, but this was by way of a clear calling of the Lord.
