Some Thoughts To Come Back To...

Some thoughts from Matt Chandler that I wanted to get down, and I'll come back to later. But this also gives all of my readers something to think about.

"Men are the Glory of God; and what that means is if men will do what God has commanded them to do, if men will be who He's commanded them to be, then everything else will work well; and where they fail, everything begins to unravel."

Chandler said that the most difficult command God has given humanity is for men to love their wives like Christ loved the Church. He continues:

"Jesus Christ is sinless, and yet reached out and reconciled His bride, the Church. Which means He did nothing wrong, yet He initiated reconciliation. It means when She did not respond to that reconciliation as He wanted, He let His life be taken from Him to make Her right."

"Are You Talkin' To Me?"

One of the greatest lines ever spoken in cinematic history; right up there with the likes of "May the force be with you," or "I love the smell of napalm in the morning," and "Here's looking at you, kid."

But now Robert Mundell, the Nobel Prize winning economist and MIT grad, says that Taxi Driver is the most significant wealth earning film in history. He says it directly and indirectly generated between 5 to 15 trillion dollars of output to the U.S. economy in the late eighties. Wonder how? Check out his theory here. Its a short and sweet article, shouldn't take very long to read at all.

Another great accomplishment for The Tribe...

The Cold Hard Truth:

- 43 1/3 innings pitched without a run.

- That streak is the longest by an Indians starting staff since the 47 they pitched in August 1948.
- Its the longest by a MLB team since a 54 inning streak by Baltimore in '74. (Which is the MLB record.)
- 11 more innings to go. Laffey is up next, then Sowers. Not the best line-up to break the record with. But Laffey has thrown 14 scoreless innings in his last two starts, so maybe?

- 5 consecutive shutouts in an eight game span.

-First since Oakland did it in 2002.

-Cleveland leads the MLB in shutouts this year with 7.

Enough Said!

What Is Within Must Come Out...

You can only suppress it for so long. The heart, or more so the soul is a mysterious thing. It always tells you out. I was just talking the other night with a great friend about how I was going to deal with a situation that I have recently encountered, and as I talked about it, the person pointed out that maybe I should handle it in a different way. Now, to be clear, I was only joking in the way I said I was going to handle it, but the fact remained the same, I wanted to deal with it the way I was joking. (Hopefully that makes some sense?) So today I was reading the passage in Matthew where Jesus tells people what defiles a person. He says that its not what goes in (for that passes through the stomach and out the other end,) but what comes out our mouths. He says that what comes out is from the heart, and the heart is what makes one clean or unclean. The heart is what matters most. Why is it adultery when you think about how attractive that girl who just walked by is? Because its not the action of doing something physical, its the thought of it. Your heart defiles you, and gives you away. I have realized this again. Reading this today has hit a cord. Do I long for God to purify my heart, or do I just give lip service occasionally by washing my hands before I eat? This today has lead me to pray for and to fast upon my heart being purified of what is unclean. Listen to what Jesus is saying to not just the Pharisees, but to His own disciples and to us today.

"But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander." Matt. 15:18-19

Now I know that after one day of fasting and praying, I will not be cured of all evils of the heart, but I do know that when we cry out to God (with a sincere heart,) He hears us, and answers us. And so I pray and fast that God may point out to me issues I need to address, and that I may grow closer to Him in the process. I encourage anyone who may read this to pray and see if God may want you to do the same. Just for a day, or a week, whatever. But I do believe that if done in humbleness and sincerity, God will move in our lives and we will be closer to Him for it.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

A Prayer...

God restore my heart and soul for You. May you lead me and guide me in the way I should live my life. I know the calling You have given me, and I just ask that You again break me and compel me to live accordingly. God, I cling to what you say in 1 Peter 1:3-5, "he has caused us to be born again...to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." I pray that I may keep this as my own, that You may finish the work You have started in me. And I pray that through trials and hard times, that I may still see Your face, and that I may know that although You are making me weaker, You are at the same time, making me stronger. May I rest in You, and let You take me where You please.
As Your Word is not perishable, may we, who are saved through that Word, also not perish, but glorify You in this life and the next. Amen.
